The aim of this scheme is to give the children of those who have died in the service of their country a head start in life by enabling them to obtain a university degree.

The University of Hull was founded in 1927 – originally as University College Hull. The foundation stone was laid the following year by the Duke of York (later King George VI, of The King's Speech fame) and we opened for business with 39 students and 14 ‘one-man’ departments. A maintenance grant of £4,950 and the full tuition fee (up to a maximum of £9,250).

This scheme is open to applicants whose parent died whilst serving in HM Armed Forces after 0001 on 1 January 1990.
