Aim and Benefits of University of Milan Excellence Scholarship Master's Scholarship

Thirty scholarships are available, each worth €10,000.00, with the following benefits:

  • Full exemption from tuition fees;
  • Housing Priority: 30 reserved beds in University Residences, in shared double rooms, free of charge;
  • Ambassador Program: the scholarship includes participation in the “UniMi Ambassadors” programme, aimed at selecting outstanding students to represent the University of Milan during promotional activities such as webinars, campus tours for groups of international students, presentations for prospective international students, as well as the creation of social media content within a peer-to-peer communication framework.

The scholarship is not compatible with other scholarships, including scholarships under the Education Incentive Programme.


Requirements for University of Milan Excellence Scholarship Master's Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a first-cycle (Bachelor’s) degree awarded by a university in a European Union country (excluding Italian universities), or obtain it by 31st July 2026;
  • Be resident in a European Union country (excluding Italy);
  • Have submitted an application for admission to a Master’s Degree programme at the University of Milan.

Interview date, Process and Venue for University of Milan Excellence Scholarship Master's Scholarship

Selection will be carried out by a specific Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria:

Academic Merit and CV (80 points out of 100):

  • Academic transcript (weighted grade point average): up to 50 points;
  • International language certifications: up to 5 points;
  • Participation in European research, study, or innovation projects, including voluntary activities: up to 15 points;
  • National or international awards, scholarships, and honours: up to 5 points;
  • Work experience: up to 5 points.

Motivation Letter (20 points):

  • Applicants must submit a short motivation letter highlighting their skills and explaining how they intend to contribute to the European Education Area in Milan and how they plan to carry out the role of student ambassador.

The Committee will evaluate only applications submitted by students who have been admitted to a Master’s Degree programme at the University of Milan for the academic year 2026/2027. In the event of a tie, priority will be given to candidates with a higher score in the academic transcript.

When assessing the academic curriculum, the Committee will consider the time taken by each candidate to obtain their qualifications.


Documents Required for Application

The following documents must be attached:

  • Transcript of Records or Diploma Supplement;
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate (for candidates who have already graduated);
  • Curriculum vitae;
  • Language certifications;
  • Certificates proving participation in European research, study or innovation projects, including voluntary activities, national or international awards, scholarships, and work experience;
  • Motivation letter;
  • Certificate attesting residence in a European Union Country (mandatory for applicants who are citizens of a non-EU country) issued by the competent authorities of the Country of residence.

Documents are accepted in English, French, German, or Spanish, or translated into Italian by an official translator.
