The purpose of the Scholarship is to attract new high-achieving international students from priority target markets, studying in a range of fields that are linked to priority sectors and industries for Western Australia. The scholarship is worth $50,000 and will be applied against successful applicant's fee and tuition accounts across the duration of a student's program in semester installments. One scholarship will be awarded to a successful international student studying at The University of Notre Dame Australia each semester until 2026.

The scholarship is worth $50,000 and will be applied against successful applicant’s fee and tuition accounts in semester instalments.
Method of payment:
a) The scholarship is provided as a $50,000 fee discount towards eligible program fees in semester instalments, and will be applied against the successful student’s account with the University after the census date for each semester.
b) Payment will be dependent on the student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress and continuing to meet the conditions in Clause 11
To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:
1. Have received a letter of offer for a new enrolment* as an onshore international student, undertaking full-time studies (minimum two years) at one of Western Australia’s five Universities, commencing in Semester 1 2024 or Semester 2 2024, or a start date after 1 January 2024 applicable to the student’s course of study (for PhD students).
2. Be arriving in Western Australia in a specific semester in 2024 to commence their course in that semester in 2024. (Have not previously studied at a WA University)
3. Have met the criteria to obtain an international student visa for study in Australia, arriving in the State of Western Australia (the State) and commencing studies onshore in 2024 in the semester for which they have applied.
4. Be commencing studies directly in an undergraduate or postgraduate program and not via a packaged, foundation or English language pathway.
5. Be prepared to decline any other scholarships they may have been previously granted by the University, State or Commonwealth if successful in being awarded a WA Premier’s University Scholarship.
6. Be applying to the University as an international fee-paying student.
7. Be a citizen of one of the following countries and make their application to the University from outside of Australia:

SELECTION CRITERIA The Scholarship is awarded to the applicant who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, best demonstrates through their application and supporting documentation:
a) Demonstration of a high-level of academic achievement as determined by the University of Notre Dame
b) Applicants may require additional qualitative assessment by responding to qualitative questions either through written or interview form.
c) *The University of Notre Dame will determine which levels of study and programs are eligible to apply.
SELECTION PROCESS
a) Applications must be made via the University application form b) Selections will be made based on assessment of the application and any supporting documentation c) All applicants will be notified of an outcome via email.
d) The University reserves the right not to award the scholarship.
DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
a) Subject to the conditions in Clause 11 below, the Scholarship will be tenable for the duration of the recipient’s program for which the Scholarship was awarded and must be used within that period.
b) The Scholarship is not transferable to any other organisation or institution and cannot be redeemed as cash.
9. CONCURRENT SCHOLARSHIPS The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another scholarship.

Some scholarships are awarded based on merit (such as academic achievement), or equity (such as personal or financial hardship), or a combination of these factors. To be competitive in your application, it’s important to demonstrate how you meet the criteria by providing supporting documentation.
Some of our scholarships for commencing students don’t require an application. You will automatically be considered when you apply to study at Notre Dame, and these are often awarded on merit.
Most scholarships will ask you to submit a personal statement in your application. It is useful to draw on real-life examples and be honest about your circumstances. You may also be required to submit written references from one (1) or two (2) people to support your scholarship candidature. This can be a current or former teacher or employer, or it could be a character reference from someone in your local community who is not related to you.
