University of Otago 2025 POPO Pacific Physics Scholarship

The POPO Pacific Physics Scholarship is run through the Pacific Islands Research and Student Support Unit (PIRSSU) at the University of Otago. The scholarship supports Pacific students to prepare for the PHSI 191 Biological Physics paper, as part of Health Sciences First Year (HSFY).

Designed to support Pacific students interested in a career in health, the Pacific Opportunities Programmes at Otago (POPO) Physics Scholarship provides access to the JumpSTART Physics programme, as well as continuous support through the PHSI 191 paper and HSFY.

Standard value of $2,500

Requirements for POPO Pacific Physics Scholarship Qualification

Application for this scholarship is open to all students who are of indigenous Pacific decent and hold either New Zealand citizenship, or a New Zealand Residence Class Visa.

Interview date, Process and Venue for POPO Pacific Physics Scholarship

The Pacific Islands Research and Student Support Unit shall consider the following factors in awarding the scholarship:

• Previous secondary school study undertaken.
• Potential and motivation to succeed at university.
• A commitment to pursue Health Science study and a career in health.

How to Apply

Every applicant must:

• Submit the official application form by the specified due date;
• Submit a separate application to study the JumpSTART Physics programme;
• Apply to enrol in the Health Sciences First Year programme at the University of Otago.
