Aim and Benefits of University of Southampton Electronics and Computer Science Commonwealth Scholarship
Scholarships of £3,000 are available to international students studying for an Electronics and Computer Science:
- undergraduate degree
- postgraduate master’s degree
There are 20 scholarships available:
- 10 for undergraduates
- 10 for postgraduates

Requirements for University of Southampton Electronics and Computer Science Commonwealth Scholarship Qualification
To be eligible for a scholarship you must:
- have an offer to study?
- need to pay the overseas tuition fee
You must not be in receipt of any external scholarship.
You cannot apply if you are studying:
- on PGCert, PGDip, Foundation or PGR courses
- on Distance Learning courses
- with a partner institution
- at our campus in Malaysia
- on Study Abroad courses
- as an exchange or partner student
- on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses
- only pre-sessional English – pre-sessional English students with an offer to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level can still apply
You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if you are resident in:
- Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, Canada, Cyprus, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji Islands,Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago,Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia
We determine your residency as where you have been living for a 3 year period or longer before the start of the course. This does not include where you are living for study purposes, if it is somewhere different to where you normally live.
Interview date, Process and Venue for University of Southampton Electronics and Computer Science Commonwealth Scholarship
As part of your application, you will need to answer 4 questions on how your studies at Southampton can make a contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
- Which UN Sustainable Development Goals are relevant to your expected programme of study and why? (100 words maximum, per goal).
- Please outline how your intended programme of study and research can make a contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (250 words maximum word count).
- We are looking for scholars who will use their time at Southampton to achieve the remarkable and build an inclusive world.? Please explain yur future goals and how your chosen programme at Southampton will help you achieve that (200 words maximum word count).
- As a Southampton ECS Commonwealth scholar how might you act as an ambassador for the University? (200 words maximum word count).
We cannot accept late applications. If your application is successful, you will receive confirmation in writing via email
All scholarship offers are final.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate applications
Undergraduates and Postgraduates can apply from w/c 23 October 2023 until 5pm (UK time) on 14 April 2024.
We will contact you:
- by 30 May 2024 at the latest if your application is successful
- after 3 June 2024 if your application is not successful
