University of Westminster 2022-2023 Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship

The University will be allocating one Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship in total in 2022/23. The scholarship is provided to support students who have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain or Discretionary Leave to Remain by the home office. The selection is based on financial need and the merit of the application.

About University of Westminster

The Westminster story began in 1838, when Sir George Cayley opened the Polytechnic Institution at 309 Regent Street in London. In 1881, philanthropist Quintin Hogg bought the Royal Polytechnic Institution building and moved his Young Men’s Christian Institute into 309 Regent Street, which soon became the publicly funded Regent Street Polytechnic. Aim and Benefits of Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship

One scholarship is available. Full tuition fee waiver and £6,000 towards maintenance costs up to a maximum of 1 year. Students on part-time courses will receive £3000 towards maintenance costs per year, maximum of 2 years.


Requirements for Postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarship Qualification

Students must fulfil all criteria below:

  • You must have an offer from the University of Westminster for a place on a full-time or part-time master’s course starting in September 2022.
  • You must currently be living in the UK.
  • You must be under 25 years of age when you begin your degree.
  • You must have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) by the Home Office; this must be the sole reason why you do not qualify for student funding or home fee status. ILR status holders must have been residing in the UK for less than 3 years.

The selection is based on financial need and the merit of the application.

Please return your completed application form including any supporting documents as pdf attachments to [email protected].

You can only submit ONE email, including your application and all relevant documents. The email header should include your 8-digit Westminster Reference number and the full name of the scholarship you are applying for. You will not be able to amend your application once we have received it.
