The UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship is funded by The University of Queensland (UQ). Established in 2021, this Scholarship offers students from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds the opportunity to pursue higher education in any desired discipline at UQ.

• 100% tuition fee waiver
• $29,000 annual living stipend

Requirements for UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

You’re eligible if you:

• are or will be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at UQ
• hold an Eligible Visa
• have not received the Scholarship previously for the same level of study
• do not hold another scholarship that the Associate Dean considers to be similar, and
• can demonstrate financial hardship by providing documentary evidence.

Interview date, Process and Venue for UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship

You'll need:

• a copy of your current visa (if you are currently on a Bridging Visa A or E and have applied for a Protection visa, please provide a copy of the acknowledgement letter from Immigration)
• your resume/CV
• UQ offer letter or confirmation of application for the chosen program of study
• evidence of your and/or your family's financial circumstances, such as:
  • Centrelink Statement
  • employment payslips for the past two months (i.e. past 8 weekly payslips/past 4 fortnightly)
  • Australian Taxation Office Notice of Assessment for the most recent financial year
  • any other type of relevant evidence.
• a personal statement which outlines your personal and/or family circumstances and your personal qualities. You are also welcome to include any other information you deem relevant to your application, such as any achievements or aspirations.

You can also include:

• evidence of your prior study/qualifications (if applicable)
• references from employers, community organisations, academics or any other relevant group that wish to support your scholarship application.
