The Optiver Indigenous STEM Scholarship aims to support an Australian Indigenous student by alleviating some key financial pressures and providing them with the means to succeed in their chosen STEM undergraduate studies at UTS.

Requirements for Optiver Indigenous STEM Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be eligible for the Scholarship an applicant must: 

• Be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide either: 
  • A Confirmation of Aboriginality from a local Aboriginal Land Council or other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation; or 
  • A UTS Statutory Declaration form accompanied by two written references from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people from the applicant’s community who can confirm their identity and are not immediate family members; and 
• Be commencing or continuing full- time in a UTS undergraduate course in one of the following STEM aligned disciplines (Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics and Science); and 
• Must have at least ninety-six (96) Credit Points remaining at the time of applying  
• Apply for the Scholarship online using the UTS Scholarship Application Form. 
• Applicants may be required to attend an interview (either face-to-face or via Zoom) at the discretion of the selection committee. 

Interview date, Process and Venue for Optiver Indigenous STEM Scholarship Undergraduate Scholarship

As demonstrated in the Scholarship application (and optional interview): 

• Motivation to succeed in the nominated UTS course; 
• Commitment to contribute to their community; 
• Potential for the Scholarship to increase the likelihood that the candidate will be able to complete their chosen UTS course at a higher level of performance than would otherwise be the case.  
• Preference may be given to applicants in Mathematics, Engineering and Information Technology.
