This Scholarship is open to students entering their first year of study and majoring in a degree programme offered by the School of Accounting and Commercial Law. The scholarship is intended to support emerging leaders who have chosen a career in commerce and are committed to undergraduate study at Victoria University of Wellington.

Requirements for Victoria University of Wellington Masters Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in an undergraduate degree majoring in a discipline within the School of Accounting and Commercial Law at Victoria University of Wellington. Applicants intending to enrol into a joint degree with a non-commerce subject are also eligible to apply.

• Applicants must by New Zealand citizens, Permanent Residents or hold a residence class visa to remain in New Zealand
• Applicants must be facing financial hardship that may restrict their ability to enter tertiary education
• Applicants must have achieved an NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Merit (or the equivalent in another qualification)
• Applicants will also be assessed on the following criteria:
  • Leadership qualities
  • Involvement in community, sporting and cultural activities
  • Willingness to give back to the community

Documents Required for Application

• A personal statement outlining how they meet the criteria for this scholarship
• A CV of the applicant's prior education, employment and interests
• A reference from their school’s head of commerce or another suitable teacher (to be requested via the online application)
• Must complete the financial information section of the scholarship application form

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
