Western Sydney University 2022 Faculty of Engineering Research Stipend International Scholarships in Australia for Master

The Engineering Research Stipend Scholarship (ERSS) has been established to encourage and support outstanding higher degree research (HDR) students within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.

The scholarships may be fully funded by the Faculty of Engineering or co-funded by external research grants or industry funded research projects.

The University of Western Sydney (UWS) began operation on 1st January 1989, under the terms of the University of Western Sydney Act, 1988 which had been passed by the New South Wales Parliament in December 1988. However, the predecessors of the University date back as far as 1891 with the establishment of the Hawkesbury Agricultural College. Aim and Benefits of Western Sydney University Masters Scholarship

The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney’s RTP stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year).

Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is also provided for a successful international recipient.

Stipend allowance duration:

  • Up to one year for a successful master’s by research recipient (no extension).
  • Up to three years for a successful PhD recipient with a possible six months extension.

Requirements for Western Sydney University Masters Scholarship Qualification

  • have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time enrolment in a PhD program or an unconditional offer of admission for full-time enrolment in a Master’s by Research program with the intent to transfer to PhD after satisfactory completion of the first annual progress evaluation within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney
  • withdraw applications for Research Training Program (RTP) funding, including any RTP Allowance, RTP Fees Offset (international only), RTP Stipend or RTP Scholarships if this scholarship is awarded. 

Note: International students currently outside Australia must have applied for their student visa before they commence their studies.

Engineering students applying for Admissions will automatically be considered for this scholarship. A separate application is not required.

Note: The award of this scholarship is subject to funding availability.
