Xiamen University (XMU), founded in 1921 by renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee, is a comprehensive institution of higher education directly affiliated with China’s Ministry of Education. In 2017, XMU was included in the list of Type A universities designated by the Chinese Government to achieve world-class standing. The University was placed among the world’s top 400 institutions in various authoritative world university rankings, such as THE, QS, US News and ARWU.
Currently, the University has a total enrollment of approximately 40,000 students, including 20,651 in bachelor’s degree programs, 16,712 in master’s degree programs and 4,737 in doctoral degree programs, with 1,208 international students in degree programs. Xiamen is located in the southeast coast of China. It is made up of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu and some coastal areas on the north bank of inland Jiulong River. Altogether, these cover an area of 1,699.34 square kilometers, among them, Xiamen Island, the fourth largest island of Fujian covering an area of 141.09 square kilometers. Scholarship awardees will have their tuition fees covered. Moreover, monthly living allowances will be provided to outstanding postgraduates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships.
1. Applicants must meet the requirements of the repective programs they are applying for.
2. Educational background and age limits (as of September 1, 2022):
(1) Bachelor's programs: hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 25;
(2) Master's programs: hold a bachelor's degree or above and be under the age of 40;
(3) Doctoral programs: hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 45.
Applicants shall complete online application at http://application.xmu.edu.cn and upload the scan copy of Application Form for Xiamen University Scholarships (https://admissions.xmu.edu.cn/Scholarships/Xiamen_University_Scholarships.htm). The Scholarships Application Form should be completed in Chinese or English and signed by the applicant. There is no need to mail paper application materials.

1. Applicants are expected to submit a complete set of application materials and will be held responsible for the authenticity of their documents. Incomplete or forged application materials will be rejected.
2. Applicants are expected to keep their phones on, check their email and online application account regularly as XMU's Admissions Office will contact them when necessary.
