Intra Africa Academic Mobility Scheme Scholarship (PERI-ACE) 2027

Partners Enhancing Resilience through African Centres of Excellence (PERI-ACE) is a project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, which promotes cooperation between African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and supports academic mobility across the continent. The scheme provides support for consortia of African HEIs and scholarship opportunities for African trainees, students at master’s and doctoral levels, and university staff. 

PERI-ACE supports at least 40 emerging scholars through strategically funded master’s and doctoral studies, traineeships, and staff mobility; all designed to maximize employability and academic growth.

Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Postgraduate Scholarship

• The project aims to support individuals with Master’s, Doctoral, Traineeship mobility.
• Funds allocated for scholarship contributions cover travel, visa application fees, living costs, including accommodation and subsistence.
• These are paid to students monthly in local currency, at the equivalent value in Euros. 

Requirements for Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

• Students must be both a national and resident of an African country to apply for:
  • A. Master and Doctoral Mobility To qualify, you must be registered or admitted to a Higher Education Institution established in Africa or have obtained a university degree from such an institution. This mobility option can be either short-term or for the entire duration of an academic programme.
  • B. Traineeship Mobility To qualify, you must be enrolled in a Bachelor/Master/PhD programme at one of the African Higher Education Institutions participating in the Intra-Africa consortia selected as of 2023. Trainees will engage in placement periods with private or public organizations in a country different from their nationality and residence.

TARGET GROUPS

• Applicants for master's and doctoral studies must be currently registered in, admitted to, or hold a degree from either: •
  • Target Group 1:
    • A core African institution within the PERI-ACE consortium. •
  • Target Group 2:
    • Another Higher Education Institution (HEI) established in an eligible African country that is not part of the PERI-ACE consortium.

How to Apply

STEP 1 – Read the Application Guidelines

• Please read the Guidelines in full before starting your application to confirm that you meet the eligibility criteria and understand the scholarship terms and timelines relevant to your chosen mobility (Master’s, Doctoral, Traineeship). 

STEP 2 – Apply concurrently for university admission

• A PERI-ACE scholarship application is not a university admission application. You must apply directly to your chosen host institution as well. Institutional application links, contacts, and submission deadlines are listed in the Application Guidelines and on the PERI-ACE Partners page. 

STEP 3 – Queries

STEP 4 – You can now commence with your application

1. The form takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. 
2. The form branches according to the mobility you select (Master’s Full-Degree, Master’s Credit-Seeking, Doctoral, Traineeship). Please answer the mobility question carefully later sections depend on this choice. 
3. “Save and Return Later” is available at any point in the form. The system will issue a return code by email that allows you resume where you left off. 
4. Please proofread all information carefully before final submission. 
5. On submission you will receive an automated confirmation email.  
6. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
