University of Pavia CICOPS Scholarships 2027

In order to promote international cooperation, particulary with Developing Countries, the University of Pavia and EDISU (Institute of the Right to University Studies) provide 8 scholarships to visiting scholars for the year 2027 for a period of stay of 4 to 12 weeks at the University of Pavia.

CICOPS Postgraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of CICOPS Postgraduate Scholarship

• The scholarship includes travel, meals and accommodation expenses, health insurance policy and a contribution of 150.00 Euro (gross) per week.

Requirements for CICOPS Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

• Currently residing in a World Bank low-income, lower-middle income, or upper-middle income economy (at the application deadline)
• PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) obtained by the application deadline and currently employed by a university / higher education institution

and/or

• Currently employed (teaching/lecturer/research/technical staff), for at least two years by:  a university / higher-education institution, or a public/non-profit research centre, or an intergovernmental/international public institution (only if research/technical duties are documented), based in an eligible country.
• Applicants must demonstrate recent research activity through at least 2 authored scientific publications/outputs in the field of the proposed joint research.

Interview date, Process and Venue for CICOPS Postgraduate Scholarship

A decision will be made by July 20th 2026 by a Committee composed of three members designated by the Rector.

In the issuing of the ranking, the Committee will take into account:

1. the scientific relevance of the proposed project, especially when integrated with similar projects developed by the University of Pavia;
2. the Curriculum Vitae of the candidate;
3. the fair distribution of grants between the department involved and the geographical regions of origin of the applicants.

In the case of scientific and professional value being equal, preference will be given to:

• applicants from lower income economies, according to the World Bank list;
• applicants employed by Universities/Institutions linked to the University of Pavia with a preexisting Cooperation Agreement (See: International Agreements - MoUs);
• Applicants formally introduced to the Selection Committee by an Honorary Consul, member of the UCOI and UCOIM associations, linked to the University of Pavia with a Cooperation Agreement.

The Committee reserves the right to check the validity of declarations and supporting documents asking the submission of appropriate documentary evidence in original or certified copy. False statements may lead to exclusion from the selection process and/or the award of the scholarship.

Documents Required for Application

The following documents should be uploaded to the online form:

1. Curriculum vitae ideally in European format with a list of publications (file to be named: Surname_Name_CV)
2. Invitation letter from the professor or researcher with whom you intend to collaborate 1 (file to be named: Surname_Name_Letter): a formal acceptance letter from the proposed UNIPV tutor/supervisor confirming feasibility of the research programme.

Applicants who do not already have a contact at the University of Pavia can use UNIFIND, the University’s research/staff search tool to identify professors and researchers working in their field of interest. Applicants must contact potential hosts directly. The CICOPS office cannot suggest supervisors.

The uploaded documents should be named as mentioned above. Please only fill in your application form once you have received the letter of acceptance by your contact Professor at the University of Pavia. Incomplete applications will be rejected; no exceptions will be made.
