The Master's degree is a two-year full-time academic programme leading to a Joint Master Degree to be awarded, accredited and recognised by three universities: Public University of Navarre (UPNA, Spain), the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA, Greece) and University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD, Portugal). You will obtain training in the most advanced technologies and methodologies that can be applied to enhance the environmental, economic and social sustainability of farming. You will have the skills to:

• Apply such cutting-edge technologies to daily operational work in farms.
• Provide assistance and advice to farmers in the implementation of smart agriculture systems.
• Use technology efficiently to reduce the environmental impact of farming activities, costs and emissions and the presence of agrochemicals in surface and underground waters, and besides, avoid soil degradation.
• Follow on a basic or applied research career in industry or academia, eventually leading to a Doctoral degree.

Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

The SUSTAGRI Consortium will offer 20 full EMS (list of eligible countries). 

• 3 students from EU member states and third countries associated to the Erasmus Programme
• 17 students from third countries not associated to the Programme, of which:
  • 4 students shall be from countries of the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation – Global Europe Instrument (NDICI-Global Europe)
  • 1 student shall be from countries of Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III)

The EMS is paid as a monthly non-taxable stipend of 1400€ for the entire length of the programme (24 months) to contribute to student travel and installation costs and a subsistence allowance for the entire duration of the programme.

The EMS also covers all student participation costs to SUSTAGRI master:  tuition fees, full insurance coverage and other mandatory costs related to student participation in the course.

If you are offered an EMS, you will be given 3 to 5 days to accept our offer. If you do not accept the offer, your EMS will be provided to the next ranked student. 

The first EMS payment will only be made after you arrive in Pamplona for the first semester of the SUSTAGRI programme.

Students who have previously obtained an EMJM scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master Course/Joint Doctorate scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional EMS.

EMS holders cannot benefit from another EU-funded scholarship scheme to follow the same course, which is for the entire course period.

Requirements for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship Qualification

• Education: Bachelor´s degree, with a minimum of three years’ study at a university and a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent, according to the regulations in the country of origin and the European regulations, or to be in your last year of a Bachelor´s degree, preferably in:
  •  Agricultural Engineering
  • Computing and Telecommunication Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Any other similar degrees

  You must graduate before the Master’s programme starts

• English: International students attending the SUSTAGRI Programme and whose first language is not English are required to have a grade equivalent to level B2 before registration.

Any English test will need to have been taken within 2 years of registration onto the course. Students who are from one of the the UKBA list of countries, or have completed a recognised degree in one of them, will automatically receive an English language waiver.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Erasmus Mundus Masters Scholarship

SUSTAGRI’s Academic Committee will carry out the evaluation in two stages:

• 1st stage: The academic record will be evaluated (according to the information provided by the applicant in the on-line registration system).
• 2nd stage: They will interview by videoconference the candidates who were ranked highest in the first stage.
   

Order of preference

If the demand is higher than the offered number of places, admission to the master’s degree will follow the following scale:

• Academic record of the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) that gives access to the master's degree (up to 4 points). Weighting coefficients may be assigned on the grade of the transcript for those degrees whose suitability does not fit the subject matter of the master's degree.
• Professional experience (up to 2 points). It will be valued up to 0.5 points per year, weighting the adequacy of the professional work with the content of the master's degree
• Participation in research projects (up to 2 points). Participation in research projects will be valued, taking into account the time scope, subject matter, degree of participation and financing.
• Other merits (up to 2 points):
  •  Knowledge of languages (demonstrated by official certificate or by courses received)
  • Courses received and given
  • Publications
  • Approved research grants

Documents Required for Application

• Spanish equivalent overall grade (NEW, for the 2026-2028 cohort). You have to obtain it in the Spanish Ministry of Education. A short explanatory video is available. Please note that the SUSTAGRI Master does not provide specific assistance with this process. This requirement must be completed individually through the platform of the Spanish Ministry of Education. • SUSTAGRI Student Questionnaire (NEW, for the 2026-2028 cohort). You must complete this questionnaire before the registration process and once fullfilled, you will receive an email with a copy of your responses. Please save the email as a PDF and upload it as a proof of submission in  the enrolment/registration form. The overall grade described in the previous point must be included as an answer to one of the questions in the questionnaire.
• Identity Card or Passport. If you hold more than one nationality, please attach a copy of all the documents providing those nationalities.
• Official university Bachelor's degree from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) or equivalent foreign degree allowing access to a postgraduate degree in the country that issued the degree (equivalent to level 6 EFQ). Should the applicant have not yet finished their studies at the time of application, they must be in a position to obtain their BSc degree before the start of SUSTAGRI programme. *
• Academic Transcript of Records. This transcript must contain all the courses taken during the entire bachelor's degree at the university of origin. Hence, it should include course, grades and the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) obtained to complete the programme. *
• Certificate of proficiency in English (see previous section)
• Curriculum Vitae in English. Mandatory Europass format (pdf)

* If the academic certificates are issued in languages other than Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese or Greek, they must be accompanied by the corresponding simple translation into one of these languages, leaving it up to the Academic Committee to require a sworn translation if necessary.
