The Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship is a private sector scholarship administered by The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). It was set up by the financial community in Singapore in honour of former Deputy Prime Minister Dr Goh Keng Swee, who fostered Singapore’s economic development and growth as a reputable international financial centre.
Each year, 3 to 4 scholarships are awarded to outstanding individuals from 15 Asia Pacific economies (Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam) to pursue undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)). Candidates will serve a 3-year bond upon completion of their studies.
From 2025 onwards, application for the scholarship will be through the respective universities. Applicants who are eligible will be automatically considered for the scholarship. Application procedures and further details of the scholarship are enclosed.

The scholarship will support a maximum of 4 years of full-time undergraduate study (may include Honours) at NUS, NTU, SMU and/or SUTD. It provides the following:
The scholarship award will be reviewed annually and is subject to satisfactory performance and academic results.
The Dr GKS Scholarship is open to students who are citizens/passport holders of Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Singapore citizens and PRs are not eligible to apply for the Dr GKS Scholarship.

The scholarship is open to all applicants who fulfil the above criteria. Successful candidates do not necessarily need to pursue a career in banking and finance after graduation.
There is no separate application for the Dr GKS Scholarship from 2025.
Interested applicants should first apply for admission to NUS, NTU, SMU and/or SUTD via the respective university websites listed below.
They can register their interest to be considered for the Dr GKS Scholarship when submitting their university application(s). Outstanding applicants may be nominated by the universities for the Dr GKS Scholarship.
Nominated applicants will be notified by June if they are shortlisted for the scholarship interview with the Dr GKS Scholarship Selection Board. The scholarship interviews will be conducted virtually between May-June 2025 and applicants will not need to travel to Singapore for the interview.
