About Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund (AEF)

The Entrepreneurs Fund is a not-for-profit initiative launched by Alibaba Group in 2015 to help entrepreneurs and young graduates realize their dreams and vision. Two separate funds have been set up in Hong Kong and Taiwan respectively to support specific programs in each place. Requirements for AEF JUMPSTARTER 2021 Global Pitch Competition Qualification

JUMPSTARTER 2021 is open to startups from all around the world that fulfil the following requirements:

1. Operating for less than 5 years;
2. Raised less than US$20 million in funding to date;
3. Currently between the Seed and Series C stages of funding;
4. Desire to make Hong Kong part of their future plans;
5. Possess an innovative product or service.

Interview date, Process and Venue for AEF JUMPSTARTER 2021 Global Pitch Competition

Application deadlines

1. 1ST DEADLINE: AUG 31 (Worldwide Applicants)
2. 2ND DEADLINE: SEP 25 (FIRST WILD CARD)
3. 3RD DEADLINE: OCT 19 (SECOND WILD CARD)

1. Innovation and Industry Disruption (20%)
   1. Evidence of innovative advances in product, service, application, adoption etc
   2. Potential to disrupt the relevant industry
   3. Value proposition
2. Market Potential and Business Model & Sustainability (20%)
   1. Ability of the idea to generate revenue
   2. Competitiveness, barriers to entry, first-mover advantages etc
   3. Unit economics and scalability
3. Traction and Further Development Plan (20%)
   1. Operation and financial metrics, milestones and achievements since inception
   2. Forecast and product roadmap
4. Team Background and Strength (15%)
   1. Capabilities and expertise to execute the business plan
   2. Passion, ambition, vision, culture
5. Hong Kong Nexus (Founder Background + HK / GBA Plan) (15%)
   1. Background of founders
   2. Plans to utilize Hong Kong to expand the business
   3. Evidence of existing or future operation plans in Hong Kong/GBA
6. Social Impact (10%)
   1. Contribution to general wellbeing of wider society
7. Bonus point: 10% (Max.)
   1. Will be added to your total score if you’ve taken any initiatives to support your local community to combat COVID-19

Teams are required to submit their pitch deck via the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund Service Platform. The pitch deck should consist of the following:
