This scholarship has been established to assist an Indigenous student to pursue their studies at Flinders University by lessening their financial burden.

This scholarship has been possible after a generous donation by Dr Rosemary Brooks OAM, Flinders University Convocation Medallist 2021.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Aim and Benefits of Dr Rosemary Brooks OAM Indigenous Undergraduate Scholarship

The Scholarship will assist students by supporting the continuation of their studies at Flinders University. The value of the scholarship is $5,000. Payment will be in two instalments, each of $2,500. Pro-rata payments will apply for part-time enrolment.


Requirements for Dr Rosemary Brooks OAM Indigenous Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

Applicants for the Scholarship must:

  • Have completed one year of their course (full-time equivalent); and
  • Be enrolled at Flinders University in any undergraduate degree program; and
  • Be able to demonstrate financial hardship; and
  • Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
  • Be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived.

Previous recipients of Dr Rosemary Brooks OAM Flinders University Indigenous Undergraduate Scholarship are eligible to apply.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Dr Rosemary Brooks OAM Indigenous Undergraduate Scholarship

Selection Criteria

Scholarship selection will be based on academic merit and demonstrated engagement in university life. Selection will be made by a committee which will include representatives of the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement and Student Finance and Scholarships.

Applications can be made online through the Flinders University Student Management System. Please provide a completed Proof of Indigeneity (attached below) to your application.
