The Commonwealth government and Flinders University have established the Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (ICECS) to assist indigenous students with costs associated with their study at Flinders University.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. The 2024 value is $2,756.00 per annum ($1,378.00 per semester).
Scholarships awarded mid year will only be valid for one semester, therefore students awarded mid year will get a single payment of $1,378.00 only.
The number of ICECS available each year will be determined by annual funding from the Commonwealth government.

Scholarships will be available in both areas of financial need and remoteness of permanent home address. Scholarships will be available to both commencing students (main round in semester one and mid-year round) and continuing students (main round in semester one only). Previous recipients of an Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship may reapply but will be limited to a maximum of 8 payments in total.

In selecting recipients the following factors will be considered:
Selection of the candidate(s) will be made in accordance with procedures approved by the Director, Student Administration, in consultation with the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.
Applications should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System by the specified closing date. Applicants will need to login and navigate to the My Scholarships tab to submit an application. The application form for this scholarship is called "Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships".
