Established in 2025, the Hayes Dinnie Scholarship has been established to support honours students undertaking research projects on the awareness and management of lymphoedema.
The Hayes Dinnie Scholarship has been kindly funded by Beryl Hayes, in memory of her late husband, James Dinnie. A breast cancer survivor living with lymphoedema, Beryl’s support addresses the need for more research to drive awareness and management of lymphoedema, a debilitating condition that can occur following treatment for breast cancer as well as gynaecological cancers.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. The scholarship will have a value of $5,000, to be paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester. One scholarship per year will be available, subject to availability of funding.

The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit and the applicant’s interest in pursuing research in lymphoedema awareness and management.
