Flinders University 2025 Mendelson Scholarships for Undergraduate Student

Scholarships are offered by the City of West Torrens through the Max and Bette Mendelson Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme. Max and Bette Mendelson lived at Seaton in the early 1990s. The couple did not have any children, so decided they wanted to establish an educational scholarship fund for local university students.

The Mendelson Scholarship program is an undergraduate scholarship scheme offered through the Max and Bette Mendelson Foundation.

Aim and Benefits of Mendelson scholarships

Each year we determine the number and value of scholarships awarded on the advice of the Management Committee of the Max and Bette Mendelson Foundation.

Scholarship recipients are only eligible to be awarded a scholarship twice. If a student has received a scholarship on 2 separate occasions, they are not eligible to be considered again.


Requirements for Mendelson scholarships Qualification

pplicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian citizen.

  • Have been a resident of West Torrens for at least 3 years on 1 March in the year of application.

  • Have qualified and been accepted to undertake undergraduate studies in a degree course in any field at any university in South Australia.

  • For the academic year in the year of application, be a full-time student as defined by the university.

  • If you are a continuing student, you must have completed full-time study for the academic year prior to the year of application as defined by the university for that year.

Applicants must take care that their applications are correctly witnessed. A Justice of the Peace is required to provide identification that includes their name, official number and the post-nominal ‘JP’. Usually this information is incorporated on a stamp. NOTE:  Applications that do not provide this information are rejected.

You will be notified about the success of your application.

Mendelson scholars are provided with a cheque, a certificate and a medallion.
