Applications are now open for the Flinders University 2025 RA Simpson International Scholarship. A generous endowment from the family of the late Mr Robert Allen Simpson, a founding member of the Flinders University Council and honorary degree recipient, has enabled the establishment of the RA Simpson International Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students to undertake part of their course of study overseas. The aim, to enhance their Flinders University studies by providing an international perspective.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years. Subject to the availability of funding, one or more scholarships valued at either $1,000 (for semester) or $500 (for short term) will be awarded in each semester. The number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined by the RA Simpson Memorial Fund Management Committee.

Selection Criteria
The RA Simpson International Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the extent to which an applicant’s proposed program of study will enhance their Flinders University studies by providing an international perspective. Selection will be made by the International Scholarships Committee which will comprise the Director, Student Administration, Executive Director, International Centre or nominee, Student Finance Supervisor, and Manager, Student Mobility, International Centre.
Scholarship recipients who obtain other awards concurrent with the RA Simpson International Scholarship shall immediately inform the Higher Degree Administration and Scholarships Office. The student is required to retain such other awards and the International Scholarships Committee shall decide on the value of the scholarship after considering all circumstances.
An application for the Flinders University Exchange Program will be considered an application for this scholarship. No separate application is required for semester or year long exchange scholarships. Interested students should consult with their College Office before applying to ensure that their proposed program of study is acceptable for credit towards their Flinders University course.
Applications should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System by the specified closing date for travel in each semester. Applicants will need to login and navigate to the My Scholarships tab to submit an application.
