Flinders University 2026 Thorburn Indigenous Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to provide financial assistance to an Indigenous student studying Indigenous Archaeology or Cultural Heritage Management at Flinders University. This scholarship has been possible after a generous donation from the Thorburn family.

Flinders University Undergraduate Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of Flinders University Undergraduate Scholarship

• There will be one scholarship awarded annually up to a value of $2,000. Payment will be made in two equal instalments, after each main semester census date.

• Indigenous Archaeology

Requirements for Flinders University Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be considered, applicants must:

• be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
• identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
• be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live or have lived; and
• be making satisfactory academic progress; and
• normally be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at Flinders University specialising in Indigenous Archaeology or Cultural Heritage Management.

Preference will be given to students who have already completed one year of full-time tertiary study or equivalent.

Interview date, Process and Venue for Flinders University Undergraduate Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded based on

• academic merit; and
• the extent to which the scholarship will assist the student’s education

Priority will be given to applicants who are interested in pursuing a doctoral program in Indigenous Archaeology. However, this is not required, and all eligible students are encouraged to apply.
