Flinders University King and Amy O'Malley Trust Scholarships 2025

The King and Amy O’Malley Trust Fund awards Australia wide, annual undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships to students enrolled in, or applying for, tertiary Home Economics or related programs - e.g. Primary and/or Secondary Teaching, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child and Family Studies, Food Science, Community Studies and Consumer Science.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Aim and Benefits of Undergraduate King and Amy O'Malley Trust Scholarships

Full-time undergraduate students

These scholarships are available for the duration of the studies being undertaken, with students required to apply/reapply for funding on a yearly basis ($6500 per year)

Part-time undergraduate students

These scholarships are available for up to three additional years of studies being undertaken, with students required to apply/re-apply for funding on a yearly basis ($3250 per year)

Requirements for Undergraduate King and Amy O'Malley Trust Scholarships Qualification

  1. You need to be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia.

  2. Your proposed course must be related to Home Economics – Primary and/or Secondary Teaching, Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Child and Family Studies, Community Studies, Consumer Science, etc.
  3. You must be studying for the full academic calendar year in which you apply.

Undergraduate students can receive a scholarship if they are studying part-time. A part-time study load is defined as enrolment in no less than 50% of the equivalent full-time student load per semester.

Professional goals

  1. Clear career intentions to work in an educative and advocacy role for families and households
  2. The potential to work in a leadership role and make a professional contribution to fields related to Home Economics
  3. Broad and deep knowledge about Home Economics and its role in society
  4. A current involvement in Home Economics or related professional associations

Academic potential

  1. High grades, normally Distinction average and having passed all subjects at the first attempt
  2. A capacity for critical and analytical thinking
  3. The potential to succeed academically at a high level

Personal attributes

  1. The persistence and motivation to achieve
  2. Integrity, maturity and leadership qualities
  3. An ethic of service
  4. A commitment to inclusivity and social justice
  5. Sensitivity in dealing with a range of people and issues
  6. The ability to work collaboratively
  7. Well-developed communication skills
