KU Leuven ICP Connect Scholarship 2026

The ICP Connect Scholarships are fully-funded VLIRUOS scholarships offered to outstanding students from selected countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to study in one of the following programmes:

• Master of Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies,
• Master of Human Settlements,
• Master of Food Technology,
• Master in Sustainable Development, and
• Master of Water Resources Engineering.

KU Leuven Masters Scholarship

Aim and Benefits of KU Leuven Masters Scholarship

• Tuition fees,
• Living and accommodation costs in Belgium (covers meals, personal transport, personal expenses (e.g. internet) and accommodation)
• Health insurance
• Installation costs in Belgium
• Travel expenses,
• Insurance and living expenses for the duration of the programme.

Requirements for KU Leuven Masters Scholarship Qualification

• Students have to meet the admission requirements as they are set for the corresponding programmes. Please have a look at the strict eligibility criteria for each programme.
• Nationality and country of residence: Candidates must be nationals of one of the 28 eligible countries AND must be a resident in one of the above countries (not necessarily the same country) at the time of application. 
• Age: Candidates must not be older than 35 years of age on 1 January of the year in which they start for a first Master's programme and 45 years of age for an advanced Master's programme. 
• Professional background and experience: Preference will be given to candidates who are employed or aspire to a career in higher education, government or civil society. Candidates employed in the private sector or recent graduates with no work experience may also be considered if they have a strong motivation and profile. 
• Scholarship applications:?Candidates are only eligible to apply for one ICP Connect Scholarship per year. 
• Previously awarded scholarships: Applicants must not have previously received a scholarship from the Belgian government ?for a study programme and must not have enrolled for a study programme at a Belgian higher education institution before 1 January of the year of entry. 

Documents Required for Application

Submit the standard documents required for your Master's programme along with these additional documents:

• Two letters of recommendation: Only letters of recommendation in this format will be accepted for consideration. They must be sent to the Admissions Office from an official email address (of the professor or recommender). The subject line of the email should be: "Your full name - VLIRUOS ICP Connect - your application number" and the letter should be attached as a PDF file.
• The ICP Connect scholarship document can be downloaded here.
• For the Master of Human Settlements: If you have a background in architecture, please upload your digital portfolio.

How to Apply

If you apply for one of the eligible programmes with the above documents, you will will automatically be considered for the ICP Connect Scholarship.
