LSE 2023 Wellcome Award MSc in Health and International Development

LSE is pleased to announce the Wellcome Award MSc in Health and International Development scholarships. These scholarships commenced in the 2019/20 academic year and a total of eight scholarships will be awarded until the 2024/25 academic year.

Funded by the Wellcome Trust, these scholarships will support the very best students seeking a career in health-related social science research.

Aim and Benefits of Wellcome Award MSc in Health and International Development

Each scholarship is worth £34,596.

The scholarship will cover the tuition fees in full and the remainder can be used for living costs. The amount for living costs will depend on fee classification. For the 2023/24 academic year, those being charged the Home fee rate will receive £18,156 towards living costs; those being charged the Overseas fee rate will receive £9,156 towards living costs. 

Scholarship recipients will also be able to apply for up to £2,000 research funding to support their dissertation research.

Requirements for Wellcome Award MSc in Health and International Development Qualification

This scholarship is open to all applicants to the MSc in Health and International Development programme.  

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of both financial need and academic merit.

How to Apply

To apply for this and other LSE scholarships with the same application process, you must have:

  • Applied for admission to study at LSE
  • Submitted the LSE Graduate Financial Support Application (including Section G: Personal Statement) accessed via the Graduate Applicant Portal (link will be available once the Graduate Finanical Support Application is open - early December 2022).  
  • Received an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional)

By the deadline of 27 April 2023 at 9am (UK time GMT+1)

Successful applicants will be emailed thoughout May, June and July 2023. Please ensure that our domain name - lse.ac.uk - is added to your safe senders list and routinely check your junk/spam folders.
