The American Australian Association Graduate Education Scholarships 2024

The Graduate Education Fund provides support to Australian, Indigenous Australian, American and Indigenous American individuals undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) at an accredited educational institution in the Australia to USA direction or USA to Australia direction.

There are two scholarship application rounds offered each year (one in each direction):

Our American-Australian Education Fund scholarships support Masters, PhD and Postdoctoral research in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health, Medicine, Journalism and Sustainability. In addition, we offer a number of Indigenous Graduate scholarships to support Native Americans and Indigenous Australians undertaking study in any disciplinary field in Australia & the United States respectively.

Aim and Benefits of American Australian Association Graduate Education Scholarships

These scholarships will provide support of up to US $40,000 to use toward travel, living, tuition and other associated educational costs and may be used in conjunction with other support.

GRADUATE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS SPECIALTY FIELD SCHOLARSHIPS US$40,000

Awarded to American and Australian individuals for full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health, Medicine and Sustainability

GRADUATE EDUCATION INDIGENOUS SCHOLARSHIPS US$40,000

Awarded to Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander individuals undertaking full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) in each other’s countries respectively. Aurora Indigenous Education Scholarship Awarded to Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander individuals undertaking full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) in any disciplinary field at an accredited educational institution in the US.

SPECIALTY FIELD SCHOLARSHIPS US$40,000 US$20,000-$40,000

Northrop Grumman – American Australian Association Scholarship Awarded to an Australian individual in the specialty fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Physics, Defence Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Mathematics. South Australia Defence, Space & Cyber Scholarship Awarded to an individual undertaking PhD or Post-Doctoral research in the fields of Defence, Space, or Cyber Security. Candidates should have a research affiliation with a South Australian educational institution. Sustainable Health Care Funding (SHCF) Scholarship Awarded to an American Graduate (Postdoctoral, Ph.D. or Masters) student undertaking comparative research in the field of health care policy and management in Australia.

David Nason Journalism Scholarship Awarded to either:

  • An Australian digital, print, broadcast or multimedia journalism student undertaking Graduate level study in the US for a minimum of one-year or;
  • An Australian journalist with 5-7 years of work experience to undertake an investigative project with a media outlet in the US.

Requirements for American Australian Association Graduate Education Scholarships Qualification

  • Be an American citizen or permanent resident if undertaking research / study in Australia
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident if undertaking research / study in the United States
  • Applicants must be conducting research or studying within the fields supported
  • Applicants must have a formal letter of offerfrom an accredited institution, program or course at the time of application
  • Educational programs must be atleast one year offulltime study Dual citizens are not eligible.
