The Leahurst Nurses’ Foundation Scholarship has been established to provide financial support to students experiencing financial hardship, as a result of undertaking their final clinical placement in their undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery degree. The scholarship is open to all students undertaking their final placement in the year of the scholarship.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. The scholarship is valued at $2000 paid within two weeks of commencement of the final clinical placement.

The scholarship is open to all students undertaking their final placement in the year of the scholarship. Applicants can apply even if the details of their final placement have not yet been confirmed (placements for some students won’t be confirmed until after the scholarship closing date).
Selection Criteria
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.
Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by a panel which will include representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the selection panel. There is no obligation to offer the scholarship in any given year, should there not be a suitable applicant.
Applications should be submitted online through the Flinders University Student System. Applicants will need to login and navigate to the My Scholarships tab to submit an application.
