Aim and Benefits of Medicine Scholarship

The total value of the scholarship will be €6,250 per year per student for the duration of their undergraduate degree (either 5-year or 6-year).

Requirements for Medicine Scholarship Qualification

Applicants must:

  • Be a registered student entering Year 1 of GY501 Undergraduate Medicine at University of Galway on either the 5-year or 6-year degree.

AND

  • Provide a personal statement as part of their application form outlining financial or other obstacles (emotional, physical, cultural or social) that hinder their ability to access and/or sustain their third-level education.

Interested and qualified? Go to University of Galway on forms.office.com to apply
  • The closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday 14th October 2025 
  • Applicants will be required to supply a personal statement as part of the application process. The personal statement should be no more than 750 words and may include reference to the following: academic achievements; career aspirations and how your studies will help you to achieve them; any financial or other obstacles—emotional, physical, cultural, or social—that may hinder your ability to access and/or sustain your third-level education.
  • Applicants will be required to provide a letter of reference from their high school Principal, Vice Principal or Guidance Counsellor.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be called for interview and reviewed by a panel. Applicants invited for interview will be required to be available, in-person on Friday 7th November 2025
