University of Leeds Business School Marketing Department Scholarship for International and UK Students 2024

Doctoral research students in marketing will develop the ability to pursue research that advances the frontiers of the marketing discipline and solves business and marketing problems using advanced research tools and techniques. They will learn how to derive implications from their research results and communicate their findings to policy makers, practitioners, and academics.

The PhD Programme supports doctoral research students and enables them to develop skills in analysis of different types of data using a range of techniques and approaches. Furthermore, doctoral research students are expected to attend and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences organised by the Marketing Department, more widely within Leeds University Business School and the Doctoral College. This helps expose doctoral research students to new research ideas and practices and create a stimulating environment for innovative thinking and impactful scholarly research.

The value of the scholarship is full fees at the University of Leeds standard rate of fees + A maintenance grant at the standard UKRI rate (GBP 18,622 ) in 2023/24.

Requirements for ULBS Marketing Department Scholarship Qualification

Entry requirements: 

• Open for all International and UK applicants.
• This scholarship should be taken by 1 October 2024.
• Applicants must not have already been awarded or be currently studying for a doctoral degree.
• Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the University of Leeds.
• This scholarship is available for new Postgraduate Researchers undertaking full-time or part-time research study leading to the degree of PhD. Students who are already registered for a PhD research study are excluded from applying.
• Applicants should be willing to pursue PhD related to marketing topics, mainly in the areas of Global and Strategic Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Branding and Communications, and Sustainability at the University.

English language requirements:

• The minimum English language entry requirement for the LUBS department is an IELTS of 7.0 overall with at least 6.0 in each component (reading, writing, listening and speaking) or equivalent. The test must be dated within two years of the start date of the course in order to be valid.

How to Apply

Stage 1: First, apply for a research place of study by completing a study application form. Please state clearly that the funding you wish to be considered for is ‘Leeds University Business School Marketing Department Scholarship’. You will be expected to meet our eligibility criteria for PhD candidates, including the English language requirements if your first language is not English. Formal applications for research degree study should be made online through the application portal. Once you have received your student ID number (a 9-digit number) move onto stage 2. 

Stage 2: Apply for the Marketing Department Scholarship by working your way through the scholarship application form. You must submit your scholarship application by 12.00 p.m. on 26th April 2024.

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence that you meet the Faculty’s minimum English language requirements.
