The Schiavon Journalism Research Scholarship was established with a gift from May and Romeo Schiavon and is awarded to graduate researchers who are commencing the Doctor of Philosophy – Arts in the field of Journalism. Preference is given to candidates with industry experience.

Aim and Benefits of Schiavon Journalism Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship
This scholarship provides:
- A fortnightly stipend with a rate of $41,100 per year (2027 pro-rata full-time rate) for up to 3.5 years. The stipend may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, parenting and partner leave
- Relocation grant of $2000 for students moving from States or Territories other than Victoria or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single membership for students who require a student visa to study in Australia.

Requirements for Schiavon Journalism Research Scholarship Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- Have received an offer for the Doctor of Philosophy – Arts commencing in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
- Be undertaking research in the field of Journalism.

- The scholarship is offered to the eligible candidate(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application and course entry score.
