University of Newcastle Australia 2022 International PhD Scholarships in Translational Stroke Laboratory

A PhD scholarship is available for students to undertake a research project in the Translational Stroke Laboratory at the University of Newcastle, Australia. This project will involve use of established stroke models, mass spectrometry, immunohistochemistry, and advanced physiological monitoring to understand what is driving changes in intracranial pressure after stroke. We invite applications from motivated domestic and international graduates to undertake a Higher Degree by Research to characterise the changes in cerebrospinal fluid compositions and dynamics after ischaemic stroke that underpin intracranial pressure elevation. We also aim to evaluate novel interventions that may halt these processes in preclinical stroke models such as short-duration therapeutic hypothermia.
