Bolashaq is Kazakhstan's international scholarship programme, founded in 1993. The Bolashaq Programme provides fully funded scholarships for high-achieving students from Kazakhstan to study masters or PhD courses at selected universities in other countries before returning to work in Kazakhstan.
The University of Nottingham has welcomed many Bolashaq scholars, and is approved by the Bolashaq Programme as a study destination for Bolashaq scholars until at least 2023, due to our position in international university rankings and our range of eligible degree courses in priority areas of study.

Applicants for a master's degree
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- a document confirming unconditional enrollment for academic studies (except for financial conditions) from a university that is included in the List of leading foreign universities. The document must specify: the applicant's data, specialty, terms of study, tuition fees. The document is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages;
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in a foreign language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in the state language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of the medical certificate on form 072/y for traveling abroad;
- an official document on academic performance issued by a foreign university or a certificate of the established sample, which indicates the specialty, course (year of study), information about the assessment system, the average score of current academic performance. The document/certificate is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages (only for applicants studying at leading foreign universities).
Applicants for residency training
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- a document confirming unconditional enrollment for academic studies (except for financial conditions) from a university that is included in the List of leading foreign universities. The document must specify: the applicant's data, specialty, terms of study, tuition fees. The document is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages;
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in the state language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of the medical certificate on form 072/y for traveling abroad;
- an official document on academic performance issued by a foreign university or a certificate of the established sample, which indicates the specialty, course (year of study), information about the assessment system, the average score of current academic performance. The document/certificate is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages (only for applicants studying at leading foreign universities).
Applicants from rural locality
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in a foreign language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in the state language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of the medical certificate on form 072/y for traveling abroad;
- scanned copies of documents confirming employment, as well as an extract of the listed mandatory pension contributions for the last 2 years of employment in rural settlements.
Engineering and technical workers for obtaining a master's degree
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- scanned copies of documents confirming work activity, as well as a scanned copy of the statement of the listed mandatory pension contributions for the required period (information for the period of total experience of 1 year and at the time of submission of documents);
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in a foreign language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in the state language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of the medical certificate on form 072/y for traveling abroad;
Medical workers for obtaining a master's degree
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- scanned copies of documents confirming work activity, as well as a scanned copy of the statement of the listed mandatory pension contributions for the required period (information for the period of total experience of 1 year and at the time of submission of documents);
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in a foreign language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;

Applicants for a doctorate degree
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- a document confirming unconditional enrollment for academic studies (except for financial conditions) from a university that is included in the List of leading foreign universities. The document must specify: the applicant's data, specialty, terms of study, tuition fees. The document is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages;
- scanned copies of the bachelor's/specialist's diploma with an appendix. In the case of studying in a foreign educational organization – a scanned copy of the certificate of recognition and/or nostrification of the document of education or another document of recognition of the document of education;
- a scanned copy of a valid official certificate of the established form of passing the exam in the state language with the result corresponding to the established minimum requirements;
- a scanned copy of the medical certificate on form 072/y for traveling abroad;
- individual curriculum, agreed with the leading foreign university included in the List, and not exceeding the time limits set by this foreign university, for obtaining a doctorate degree with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages.
- an official document on academic performance issued by a foreign university or a certificate of the established sample, which indicates the specialty, course (year of study), information about the assessment system, the average score of current academic performance. The document/certificate is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages (only for applicants studying at leading foreign universities).
Only the following categories of employees can take part in the competition for the award of the Bolashak scholarship in the direction of "internship"
- Engineering and technical workers (including employees of the agro-industrial complex);
- Teachers of secondary, technical and vocational education organizations;
- Medical workers;
- Civil servants;
- Workers in the field of culture and tourism
- Employees of mass media, physical culture and sports organizations.
Applicants for the internship
- identity card and passport (scanned copy);
- a document confirming an unconditional invitation (except for financial conditions) from a foreign organization. The document must specify: the applicant's data, specialty, internship terms, cost (with a transcript of calculations). The document is provided with a notarized translation into the state or Russian languages;

5 SIMPLE STEPS TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTS

- Pass a competitive selection of 3 rounds:
- Round 1 – Comprehensive testing;
- Round 2 – Personal interview with IEC members;
- Round 3 – meeting of the Republican Commission for Training Personnel Abroad
Step 5
- After the award of the scholarship, the scholarship holder or his proxy must, within 90 calendar days from the date of the award of the scholarship, contact the Legal Service Department of the Center for International Programs JSC (hereinafter referred to as the Company) and conclude an agreement on the organization of training with the Company, as well as a guarantee agreement. In case of non-conclusion of contracts on time, the scholarship holder loses the status of the holder of the international scholarship "Bolashak".
