A generous donation by the Wattle Range Council has enabled the establishment of the Wattle Range Council Hon Terry Roberts MLC Memorial Student Scholarship to recognize the contribution made by the late Hon Terry Roberts MLC to South Australia, the Wattle Range Council region and the Millicent community. The scholarship has been established to assist students from the Wattle Range Council area to commence undergraduate study at Flinders University.
Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century. Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years. Subject to the availability of funds, there will be two scholarships awarded annually valued at $5,000 each. Payment will be made in two equal instalments, after each main semester census date.

The scholarship will be awarded based on demonstrated financial need and academic merit, as determined by the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
Selection will be made in accordance with procedures approved by the Director, Student Administration Services and a recommendation made to Wattle Range Council for its endorsement.
