UCLouvain Opens 2027 Call for Incoming International Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium, has launched its 2027 call for Incoming Postdoctoral Fellowships, offering an attractive opportunity for highly qualified researchers from around the world to pursue research in Europe.

Funded through UCLouvain’s Special Research Fund (FSR), the programme will support 15 postdoctoral fellowships of up to three years in duration. The initiative aims to foster international scientific mobility and strengthen research excellence across all academic disciplines.

Aim and Benefits of UCLouvain Opens 2027 Call for Incoming International Postdoctoral Fellowships Fellowship

• Successful applicants will receive a tax-exempt postdoctoral fellowship for a period ranging from 12 to 36 months.
• The funding package includes social security contributions, insurance coverage, and an operating budget to support research activities.

Requirements for UCLouvain Opens 2027 Call for Incoming International Postdoctoral Fellowships Fellowship Qualification

The incoming postdoctoral fellowships are intended for:

• experienced researchers with a doctorate;
• researchers with a maximum of five years’ postdoctoral experience;
• researchers who are internationally mobile, i.e. who have not lived or carried out their main activity (work, study, etc.) in Belgium for more than 24 months in the three years prior to the project start date. 
• All nationalities are eligible.

Applicants must also apply to the "Chargé de recherche" instrument of the F.R.S.-FNRS call for Fellowships and Mandates, which will open in the second half of December 2026 (call closes end of January 2027).

Interview date, Process and Venue for UCLouvain Opens 2027 Call for Incoming International Postdoctoral Fellowships Fellowship

The project selection process takes place in four stages:

1. Eligibility of the applications
2. Preselection by the Research Council
3. Top-rated proposals are evaluated by international peer reviewers
4. Interviews by selection committee of the Research Council

Applications are assessed on the following criteria:

• quality of the applicant,
• quality of the research proposal,
• impact

• Submission of the application (maximum one proposal per applicant) in PDF format, including application form and annexes, via the online form no later than Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
