ARES International Training Scholarships 2026-2027

This call for proposals is part of the ARES International Training program, which aims to build the capacity of young professionals from partner countries by providing them with specialized training or continuing education in Belgium.

To give nationals of an ARES partner country the opportunity to pursue a specialized bachelor's degree, a specialized master's degree or continuing education diploma at an FWB establishment in Belgium.

Aim and Benefits of International Training Scholarships

The scholarship includes:

  • International travel expenses: Economy class on an IATA airline, maximum one return trip per
  • academic year
  • Subsistence allowance: Monthly package for 12 months (+13th reduced month)
  • Exceptional costs associated with visa applications (only for bachelor's degrees and specialized master's degrees);
  • Tuition fees (only for bachelor's degrees and specialized master's degrees);
  • Indirect mission expenses (for continuing education only);
  • Insurance costs.

Requirements for International Training Scholarships Qualification

The candidate must:

  • Be a permanent resident and work in one of the 31 eligible countries (list below). Exception: Palestinian nationals are eligible even if they do not reside in one of these 31 countries.
  • Be a holder of:
    • For specialized masters and continuing education courses :
      • hold a degree comparable to a 2 nd  cycle diploma (300 ECTS credits) from a Belgian university;
    • For specialization baccalaureates:
      • hold a diploma comparable to a 1 st  cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) from Belgian higher education.
  • Demonstrate at least  two years' relevant professional experience  in an ARES partner country.

Interview date, Process and Venue for International Training Scholarships

Duration

  • Bachelor's and specialized master's degrees: 12 months maximum.
  • Continuing training: 2 to 6 months maximum.

One Specialized bachelor's degree

Ten Specialized Masters

Six Continuing training courses
