Tokyo Tech has announced its MEXT Scholarships 2021 for international students. The Japanese Government Scholarships 2021 has announced for different universities and the Tokyo Institute of Technology is pleased to accept the new applications for the admission and MEXT Scholarships 2021 for International Students. Students from all around the world are encouraged to apply for admission and scholarships in Japan for their higher study in Japan. This is a Fully Funded Scholarships designed for the international students to pursue their higher studies in the Japanese Universities by the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarships.

Aim and Benefits of MEXT Scholarships

This is a Fully Funded Scholarship:

  1. Scholarship will cover your Registration,
  2. Tuition Fee,
  3. Monthly Stipend (147,000 JPY for Master and 148,000 JPY for PhD),
  4. Accommodation,
  5. Airfare,
  6. Health Insurance.

Requirements for MEXT Scholarships Qualification

Interested applicants for the admission and fully funded scholarships in Japan at Tokyo Institute of Technology for MEXT Scholarships 2021 must fulfill the following;

  1. Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan (International Applicants)
  2. Have successfully completed 16 years of education outside Japan or expected to be graduate before the enrollment
  3. For Integrated Doctoral or Master program: Persons who have successfully completed 16 years of education outside Japan or who are expected to do so by the day before the enrollment date.
  4. And for PhD: Persons who have successfully obtained a degree equivalent to a master’s degree or a professional master’s degree at a university or college outside Japan or who are expected to do so by the day before the enrollment date.
  5. For MEXT: Students should have at least 2.3 out of 3 scales
  6. Persons who are at least 22 years old by the day before the admission date.
  7. Language Requirement: As lectures and seminars are conducted in English, there is no Japanese language requirement for this program. Students, however, have the ability to attend Japanese language classes on a regular basis to better adjust to everyday life in Japan

Applicants must be proficient in the English or Japanese language and meet one of the following conditions:

  1. TOEFL iBT (including TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition), TOEFL ITP Plus for China Solution (taken in Mainland of China), TOEFL paper-delivered Test, TOEIC L&R
  2. IELTS Academic Module
  3. Have been awarded or expect to be awarded by the time of Tokyo Tech enrollment an undergraduate or graduate degree from an institution where all instruction was in English or Japanese (Those will be able to apply for IELTS Exemption)
  4. Possess a level of proficiency in either English or Japanese equivalent to that stated in (1) and be able to provide supporting evidence

  8. Recommendation letter ( From the dean of the dept. or equivalent and addressed to the President of Tokyo Institute of Technology (free format, original, no photocopies))
  9. Evaluation Sheet with recommendation
  10. Consent letter from faculty of Tokyo Tech
  11. Applicant`s Passport

How to Apply

Step 1: Finding an Academic Supervisor: applicants must arrange for a Tokyo Tech faculty member to serve as an academic supervisor. Without the consent letter, your application will be incomplete. Step 2: After getting the Acceptance or Consent letter from the related field`s Professor, download the application form, and fill it according to the given instructions.

Step 3:

English Language Exemption:

  • Please note that the department of the applicant’s prospective academic supervisor will determine whether or not the applicant is exempted from this requirement.
  • Prior to submitting their application, applicants should consult with their intended academic supervisor and obtain an email or a letter issued by the department to verify that they are exempted from the requirement to submit test scores. After obtaining this verification, the applicant should submit a printed copy of the email or letter together with their other application materials.

Step 5: Send your complete application to the International Student Division of Tokyo Institute of technology by Post and Electronically by following the given procedure;

  1. Documents 1-3: an electronic file must be submitted to the Admissions Division at [email protected] before sending hard copies of the all documents (0-11) listed above to the Admissions Division by registered mail, courier, or a similar service.
  2. Documents 4 & 5: original documents written in a language other than English or Japanese must be accompanied by a certified English or Japanese translation. Translations should be certified by a public institution or the issuing university.
  3. Document 5: If the applicant is unable to submit a certificate of expected graduation and degree, he/she must submit a university-issued letter stating his/her name, date of birth, expected date of graduation, and degree to be attained.
  4. Documents 4,5, & 7: If the applicant is unable to submit the respective document originals, copies certified by a public institution or the issuing authority may be accepted as substitutes. Documents downloaded and printed from the Internet are not accepted.
  5. Please don’t staple application materials

The completed application documents must reach the Admissions Division no later than December 08, 2020 by registered mail, courier service or a similar service.
