Wolfson College Cambridge, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Journalists Association has invited applications for a Derek Ingram Press Fellow to join the Wolfson Press Fellowship Programme. This is a residential programme held at Wolfson College for three months during the Easter Term, 2025. The Programme has been running since 1982 and to date has welcomed over 350 journalists from 47 countries.
This particular Fellowship honours the memory of Derek Ingram, pictured, the distinguished journalist who did so much to improve media coverage and public understanding of the Commonwealth throughout his long career, and who was also a life-long supporter of the Wolfson Press Fellowship Programme.
Founded in 1965 as "University College", Wolfson was initially only for postgraduate students, and was located in a single house with just a dozen rooms and a long, narrow garden that ran from Selwyn Gardens to Barton Road. From these humble beginnings, we have since grown to welcome mature undergraduates as well as postgraduates, and we are now the academic and physical home to more than 800 students, with over 400 accommodation rooms, a conference centre, performance venue, library and lovingly tended gardens spread over a ten-acre site. The Derek Ingram Press Fellowship covers all of the fees, living, travel and project-related expenses of Fellows from the moment they arrive until they depart. Travel to, from, and within the UK, along with any Visa application costs, will also be covered. The Fellow is provided with a room in College, as well as full dining rights. Please note that the Fellowship does not cover any costs associated for a spouse, partner and/or family if they accompany the Fellow to Cambridge.
The Ingram/CJA Fellowship is open to established journalists from any Commonwealth country. The successful candidate will join a small cohort of other journalists at Wolfson College in April 2025 for a ten-week period during which he or she will investigate a subject of their own choosing under light academic supervision. While they are in Cambridge, Press Fellows have access to all the resources of a world-leading university and full membership of the most cosmopolitan college in Cambridge. The Fellowship covers all their living costs while they are in residence, the costs of academic supervision by an experienced scholar and travel and other expenses associated with their chosen project.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed via Zoom on 31 January 2025 by a Press Fellowship panel.
