The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Student Research Grants is open to postgraduate students studying problems and solutions in fisheries science and management and the integrity of the seafood supply chain.The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) runs an exciting and ambitious program, working with partners to transform the world’s seafood markets and promote sustainable fishing practices. Undergraduate and postgraduate students of environmental and fisheries science are able to further their studies through the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) scholarship research program.
This year, the MSC also welcomes applications from students researching best practice in sustainable seaweed harvesting and management. Direct linkage to a fishery certified or wishing to become certified by the MSC is not a requirement, although this is an additional point of interest for the MSC
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an independent non-profit organization which sets a standard for sustainable fishing. Fisheries that wish to demonstrate they are well-managed and sustainable compared to the science-based MSC standard are assessed by a team of experts who are independent of both the fishery and the MSC. Seafood products can display the blue MSC ecolabel if that seafood can be traced back through the supply chain to a fishery that has been certified by the MSC.
