Capral Aluminium is Australia’s largest manufacturer and distributor of aluminium extrusions. We operate 6 manufacturing sites in all mainland states along with a national distribution network. The manufacturing sites operate large hydraulic extrusion presses, high-capacity vertical powder coating lines and a wide range of downstream value-adding operations.
This scholarship is in memory of Richard Michael, our past General Manager, whose love of engineering and aluminium extrusion inspired and elevated generations of Capral engineers.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their engineering skills and industry knowledge through paid work placement with Capral at our world-class Angaston site. This will provide invaluable, varied industrial experience in project areas such as advanced control systems, digitisation, energy efficiency, sustainability, design, asset management and reliability. The aim will be for the student to make meaningful contributions to challenging problems with guidance from senior engineers.
The type of work to be undertaken – and level of commitment – will be negotiated between the successful student and Capral.
Applicants must be:
It is essential that the applicant’s supervisor or an academic referee (e.g. dean of school/faculty, or lecturer) provides a supporting comment about the student’s achievements, character and leadership potential.

Capral and the Playford Trust will jointly make the final selection, with an interview process for the final shortlisted applicants.
